How to get your message across succinctly?

Are you someone with more than one business?

Are you struggling to get across what you do in 60 seconds?

Are you unsure which business to focus on today?

These are some of the challenges our clients have struggled with. The good news is that if they are all businesses you have developed or been attracted to they do all have one thing in common, YOU.

By understanding YOU on a whole new level you can gain greater clarity of what YOU are about. This one single message is how you can put yourself across in a networking event.

By asking taking yourself through the questions below you can gain some insight into what it is about you that makes your unique. Then the message is unique to you and when you are chatting to people you can simply put your hand in the Mary Poppin’s bag and pull out the most appropriate tool/business for them.

I help people think productively and have productive discussion with the people who matter to their success. I work with families, schools and businesses so the language and examples vary with each person. So for me it is important to focus on the ‘umbrella’ message and then listen to what they have to say.

Let me share with you some of the questions you can ask yourself to think productively and have productive discussions.

Step 1

Develop an understanding of what is happening when you are working at your best?

When you are working at your best that’s like what?

Is there anything else about that?

What kind of…….is that …..? (insert a word that you are drawn to or a metaphor if you noticed that you used one)

Step 2

Develop an understanding of what is happening when you are learning at your best?

When you are learning at your best that’s like what?

Is there anything else about that?

What kind of…….is that …..? (insert a word that you are drawn to or a metaphor if you noticed that you used one)

Step 3

Develop an understanding of what is happening when you are living at your best?

When you are living at your best that’s like what?

Is there anything else about that?

What kind of…….is that …..? (insert a word that you are drawn to or a metaphor if you noticed that you used one)

Write down your answer, it might be one word or it might be an essay write as much or as little as you like.

Then notice what words stand out, make sure those words are words that reflect when you are at your best and highlight or underline them.

Then notice words that indicate where you are when you are at your best.

Notice have you used a metaphor to describe yourself yet, are you like…………….

Recognise your learning

What do you know NOW as a result of reading this, that perhaps you did not know before?

What difference does knowing that make, if any?

Plan your next best step

What would you like to have happen next?

Can you?

Thanks for Listening
